Applying Groups¶
Groups applied to detail lines in your budget will help organize your data, can quickly suppress lines you no longer want calculated, and help in quickly filtering for reports or sub-budgets.

Apply Groups¶
- In your budget select the Detail line (or lines) you want to apply Groups to
- Open the Apply Tools Pane (if it's not already open)
- Click to select the
Gr
tab- You can also press
CMD + 2
on a Mac orCTRL + 2
on a PC to jump to the Group Apply pane
- You can also press
- Click the checkbox next to the Groups you want applied to your selected Detail lines
- You can also use the
UP ARROW
,DOWN ARROW
andSPACEBAR
keys to select and apply Groups when this pane has focus

- Click to close the Apply Tools Pane
- You can also press

on a Mac orCTRL + 2
on a PC to return to your budget from the Group Apply pane

View Groups¶
With the Apply Tools Pane open you can see which Groups are applied based on the checked boxes. Use the Filter Applied
checkbox to only see Groups that have been checked.
You can search for a specific Group in the Apply Groups pane by typing the Group name in the search box.
Group Colors¶
In Groups Setup you can select a color for each group to display in the budget. The text for any detail line will be colored to match the selected color for the Group with the highest color Priority applied to the line. If no Groups are applied with a Priority, then the color will be based on the last Group that is applied to the line.
You can also view the list of Groups applied to each line by enabling the Groups Column
, using the menu
button (three dots) to add that column.
Suppressing Groups¶
Use the InBT
column in the Groups Setup Table to toggle whether or not those associated Detail lines are suppressed. They will be marked with a light grey color and not included in budget calculations or totals.
