Split-Screen Mode¶

Movie Magic Budgeting's split-screen mode lets you view two budgets at once without manually moving or resizing windows. You can also move budgets between the left and right panes and run keyboard shortcuts independently in each pane.

Entering Split-Screen Mode¶

With more than one budget open, right-click the tab of the budget you want to move into a second pane (or CONTROL + CLICK on a Mac)
Select Open in Split Screen
The selected budget moves into the pane opposite the currently active one
- If you are working in a single pane, that budget moves into a new pane to the right
- If you are already in split screen, the budget moves into the other pane
The Apply Tools pane collapses to the bottom if it was docked to the right

You can also drag a tab directly across panes once you are in split-screen mode (see Moving Budgets Between Panes below).

Working in Split-Screen Mode¶

The pane with the active tab is highlighted. Click any tab to make that pane active; keyboard shortcuts apply to the active pane only.

Use the Tools toggle (or CTRL + SHIFT + A on a PC, CMD + SHIFT + A on a Mac) to show or hide the Apply Tools pane. The Apply Tools pane reflects the budget in the currently active pane; click into the other pane to switch the Apply Tools content to that budget. While in split-screen mode the Apply Tools pane docks at the bottom so both budgets stay side by side.

Switch between budgets in the active pane with the tab shortcuts:

Previous tab: CTRL + SHIFT + TAB on a PC, CMD + SHIFT + TAB on a Mac

Moving Budgets Between Panes¶

Drag any tab across the divider into the other pane, or
Right-click the tab and select Move to Right Pane or Move to Left Pane

The tab's active state moves with it so you can keep editing without losing focus. If you close every tab in one pane, the remaining budgets stay open in the other pane and the layout collapses back to a single window.

Exiting Split-Screen Mode¶

Right-click any open tab and select Exit Split Screen

All open budgets remain open; their tabs collapse back into the single main window with the previously active budget on top.
