Budget Info

Save high-level data about your budget into your budget tools, including things like Title, Season, Start Production Date, and custom fields.

Data you save in fields in Budget Info can be used when building your Cover Page, Headers, and Footers so you don't have to re-type it.

Budget Info can also be useful when exporting data or if a Studio or Production partner requires you capture this information about your budget.

Accessing Budget Info

  • Click on the Setup menu in the top bar
  • Select Budget Info

You can also click on the BUDGET INFO tab when you have the Setup window open for any other tool (such as Fringes).

System Defaults

Movie Magic Budgeting comes with a number of pre-defined fields that you can fill out for your budget.

Fields with a type of "text" can be filled in with any alphanumeric characters. Fields with a type of number have to be a integer or decimal number. Fields with a type of date have to be filled in with a date in the format MM/DD/YYYY.

You cannot change the type or description on any System Default field.

To change the Value for any field:

  • Click the Value column for that field
  • Type in the value you want
  • Press TAB, ENTER, or click outside the field to commit your changes

To edit the Value for any field: - Double click the Value column for that field - Use your cursor and keyboard to edit the value - Press TAB, ENTER, or click outside the field to commit your changes

Custom Fields

You can create custom fields to capture data about your budget that is not included in the System Defaults. You may also be provided a template budget from a Studio or Production partner that includes fields they want you to fill out.

Custom Fields must be added to a Category other than System Defaults. To add, edit, or delete Categories in the Budget Info screen check out the instructions for Setup Tables.

To add a new field: - select a Category other than System Defaults - click ADD TAG at the top of the table - enter a Name for the new field - note that the Name must be unique - Press TAB - enter an optional Description for the field - Press TAB - select a field Type from text, number, or date - Press TAB - enter a Value for this field (or leave the Value blank for now) - Press TAB, ENTER, or click outside the field to commit your changes

Remember you can always click DELETE TAG to delete a field you don't need.
