Importing Lines from Movie Magic Scheduling

You can import Movie Magic Scheduling 6 library files (.mbl format) to your current budget. This allows you to place lines from that file directly in your budget using the shortcut feature.

To export an .mbl file compatible with Movie Magic Budgeting follow the instructions for "Exporting to Movie Magic Budgeting 7" in the Movie Magic Scheduling manual. Once you have an .mbl ready to import, follow these instructions to display them as a shortcut.

Import MMS6 Library

  • Open your budget
  • Click File > Import MMS6 Library...
  • Select the .mbl file to import
  • Click Import

Imported Data

The Shortcuts Setup window will get a new section named after the imported .mbl file. Click the name or caret in that imported header to expand it and see each imported MMS6 Category.

Each Category in the .mbl Library will be treated as a Detail Line Shortcut, each containing multiple lines for each of the imported elements. Each line (element) will have an Amt based on the data in MMS6 (usually the number of days worked).

Deleting Imported Data

You can delete an entire import by clicking the TRASHCAN button in the section header for the import in the Shortcuts Setup page.

You can delete a specific Shortcut (e.g., an individual category) from the import by selecting it in the left rail and clicking DELETE.

Using Imported Data

Each of the imported Categories are available to Apply as a Detail Line Shortcut

The number of total lines for that Category is displayed in the Desc column of the Apply Shortcuts pane.
