Reports: Cover Page, Header, and Footer

A Cover Page, Header, and/or Footer can be written, formatted, and filled with dynamic information to appear in your reports. You can save different "templates" in order to reuse Covers, Headers, and Footers when generating reports in your budget.

Adding the Cover Page

The Cover Page will be included by default in any brand new budget you create. If you need to add the Cover Page to an existing budget:

Accessing the Cover Page, Headers, and Footers

Once the Cover Page has been added to your report you will see a Cover Page link next to Header, Footer, and Included Sections at the top right of your Report preview.

  • Click the blue Cover Page, Header, or Footer button on any page
  • The Cover Page, Headers, and Footers screen will open.

You can save multiple Cover Page, Header, and Footer setups as templates within this budget to make it easier to re-use them in any Report.

Note: You must create a new template before making any changes to your Cover Page, Header, or Footer settings. Otherwise any changes you make are saved to the current selected template.

To create a new template:

  • Open the Cover Page, Headers, and Footers screen
  • Click + TEMPLATE in the top left
  • Your new template is created with the name NEW Untitled Header Footer Template

To switch to and edit an existing template:

  • Open the Cover Page, Headers, and Footers screen
  • Click to select the template you want to use
  • Click the EDIT button by the template name to edit it

Any changes you make to your Header or Footer will be saved to the currently active template.

Editing Cover Pages, Headers, and Footers

With the Cover Page, Headers, and Footers screen open, click to select the Cover Page, Header, or Footer tab.

For the Header or Footer, click to select the First Page or Other Pages tab.

If you only want a Header or Footer on the first page (or vice versa, only on "other pages") then leave the appropriate tab empty and MMB will not include that header or footer.

The Cover Page is divided into four sections; a wide, left-aligned text area, two left-aligned columns, and another left-aligned page-wide text area. You can use any combination of these fields to get the layout you want.

Headers & Footers are divided into three sections; a wide, center-aligned text area, and left-aligned and right-aligned areas just below that.

Click into any area and begin typing to add text to your Cover Page, Header, or Footer.

Inserting Data

You can insert Budget Info, Globals, or Reference Tags into your Cover Page, Header, or Footer. To do so:

  • while editing a Cover Page, Header, or Footer field
  • type a # (hashtag or pound sign)
  • the system will start to display Budget Info, Global, and Reference tags
  • continue typing to find the item you want to reference
  • once you have found your item, ARROW UP or ARROW DOWN to select it then press ENTER
    • you can also scroll through the list and select an item by clicking it

The system will show your selected hashtag in the Cover Page, Header, or Footer as a blue pill. You can delete any blue pill to remove that item from your report.

Note: The system will replace any of your hashtags with the value of that item. If you want a label with an entered hashtag you would need to type that into your Cover Page, Header, or Footer. For example, to include "Page Number: 1" in the Footer of your report, you would need to type Page Number: #Page Number in the First Page tab of the Footer section.

Available Reference Tags

The reference tags you can use in your Cover Page, Header, or Footer are:

Time The current local time when generating the report
File Name The current budget's filename
Created The date when the budget was created
Modified The date when the budget was last modified
Base Currency The current set Base Currency
Conversion Currency The current set Conversion Currency (display currency)
Category Count The current count of categories in your budget
Detail Account Count The current count of accounts in your budget
Detail Line Count The current count of lines in your budget
Fringe Count The current count of in use Fringes in your budget
Global Count The current count of in use Globals in your budget
Unit Count The current count of in use Units in your budget
Location Count The current count of in use Locations in your budget
Set Count The current count of in use Sets in your budget
Currency Count The current count of in use Currencies in your budget

Applying Cover Pages, Headers, and Footers

Once you have selected and edited the Cover Page, Header, and Footer Template you want to use, click APPLY TO REPORT to close this window and return to the Report Setup page. Your Cover Page, Header, and Footer selections will be immediately visible in the report.
